February 26th, 2020 is PINK SHIRT DAY! 

Bullying doesn’t fly at MEI

Pink Shirt Day is an opportunity for our entire community, the Abbotsford community, to make a joint statement that bullying and harassment go against everything we stand for. The ‘day of pink’ started in 2007 when a grade 9 boy walked into his new high school in Nova Scotia wearing a pink shirt. The resulting bullying was witnessed by two seniors in the school who then messaged every other boy to come to school ready to wear a pink shirt the following day; they wanted to send a message to the new boy and to the bullies.

“ As they stood in the foyer handing out the shirts, the bullied boy walked in. His face spoke volumes. ‘It looked like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders,’ Mr. Price recalled. The bullies were never heard from again.”

I’ve always loved this day because the entire city gets involved.
