Dear MEI Parents,
First, thank you for responding to our request for feedback and the manner in which you’ve done that. Of the 731 families that responded including the 482 comments that I have read, not even one was anything other than thoughtful, respectful, and gracious. Regardless of each respondent’s perspective on school safety, it is abundantly clear that we all want what’s best for our children, staff, and the connected families.
Some of the themes represented by the 482 comments:
Secondary parent responses totalled 396 with 284 families (71.8%) indicating that they are very comfortable (22.5%), comfortable (31.1%), or neutral (18.2%) with MEI’s Stage 2 Plan. Thirty families (7.6%) indicated that they are very uncomfortable and 82 families (20.7%) indicated that they are uncomfortable with the plan.
Middle parent responses totalled 343 with 259 (75.5%) indicating that they are are very comfortable (18.7%), comfortable (33.2%), or neutral (23.6%) with MEI’s Stage 2 Plan. Twenty-two families (6.4%) indicated that they are very uncomfortable and 62 families (18.1%) indicated that they are uncomfortable with the plan.
Elementary parent responses totalled 283 with 226 (79.9%) indicating that they are very comfortable (29.7%), comfortable (29.7%), or neutral (23.6%) with MEI’s Stage 2 Plan. Nineteen families (6.7%) indicated that they are very uncomfortable and 38 families (13.4%) indicated that they are uncomfortable with the plan.
As we move forward together, following a formal governmental approval of our plan, I want you to know the following about your MEI Team:

MEI’s Senior Lead Team was in sessions this week to focus, align, and prepare for 20/21. We’re excited to get started!!

- Hoping for an online or hybrid option
- A desire that we make masks mandatory everywhere for everyone
- A desire to eliminate masks altogether everywhere for everyone
- A desire to reduce class sizes
- A desire to reduce learning group sizes
- A desire to ensure that each child will have a friend in their learning group

- Our principals and staff will continue work with families to build confidence in our plan
- We will continue to follow governmental safety mandates as presented
- We will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust as needed
- We will respond in a way that represents the best interests of our students and staff
- We will continue to trust in God, our salvation, and not be afraid (Isaiah 12:2)!

...or stated differently, 46.5% of Secondary families were between neutral and very uncomfortable.

ReplyDeleteI agree, thank you for open communication, I’m curious what plan is in place in case MEI Is faced with a very likely case of Covid-19 within its schools. I believe that being prepared for this very possible event at s vitally important and starts now with communicating what the plan is. Has the school made a case tracking form for all students and staff?

ReplyDeleteChildren adapt better to any change than adults sometimes
As Christians I believe we need to take care of the widows and the orphans, in this case the immune compromised. Regardless of our view on masks and if covid is a real threat or not we need to be extra diligent to take care of our families and not go down as the Christian school that did less than the public schools to protect our families.
