The school year is up and running and it has been a great start! It began with our Leadership Retreat in August, Staff Kick-Off in early September, and schools opening on the 7th!
If I was to try and articulate our community’s response to the past 18 pandemic-months in one word, it would be… wait for it…
R E A S O N A B L E
With nearly 1600 students, 250 staff, connected families, churches, and alumni, we undoubtedly hold a variety of opinions on the many topics related to the pandemic. The response, however, has been respectful and reasonable as demonstrated on the school yard, in parking lots, hallways, classrooms, staff rooms, and online. Awesome! Thank you.
While the safety of our staff and students continues to be our priority, I want you to know that we are absolutely committed to continually moving MEI towards an as-normal-as-possible school year.

Why?
Students need meaningful learning experiences in safe and collaborative settings to contribute to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, something we want to nurture and support. We would like to see our students growing in their academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits. More than anything, we want each of them to experience God’s love through worship, prayer, and study of the Bible to understand that He loves them and has a wonderful plan for their lives.

Allow me for a moment to appeal to you, parent to parent. Of course we all desire to keep our children as the main thing, the central thing as we move through this year together. I’m asking you to join me in keeping the COVID/political discussions at healthy levels around them. Let’s show our children that, more than anything, we want to hear and learn about their thoughts, dreams, joys, and sorrows as we spend meaningful time with them.
I thank God for you and consider it the greatest privilege of my life and career to serve you our students, staff, and amazing families during this season.
Parents, we the MEI staff feel your trust.

You are welcome to interact safely with each other on our campus after drop-off and before pick-up. Let’s show each other our smiles in the outdoor air and encourage one another.
> Masking Reminder
The mask mandate for grades 4 - 12 isn’t a choice, but rather a requirement of the Ministry of Education. Please adhere to these guidelines unless you determine that your child qualifies for an exemption.
> Stay Home When Sick
Without exception, please keep your child at home if they are sick.
> Hand Hygiene
Please remind your child to wash and sanitize their hands often throughout the day.
> Personal Space
While the 2-meter rule no longer applies, we are all asked to respect each other’s personal space and use that as a guide for the distance we keep.
> Fraser Health Notifications
Fraser Health has made the decision to notify students and classes directly connected to an exposure via letters. They will no longer be notifying the entire community. These letters may include self-monitoring or self-isolation requests, and again, will be sent by Fraser Health by way of our school offices to those who have been directly impacted.
