“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” (Proverbs 19:17)
One of the values that we have tried to put into practice in our home and intentionally teach our children, is that followers of Jesus Christ take care of those in need.
How could the love of God be in a person who sees a brother or sister in need, has the ability to help, but has no pity on them? Our love for others ought to be reflected in our actions, not just in our words (1 John 3:17-18).

Here is a powerful twist on the idea of helping those in need. Jesus taught us that when we Feed the hungry, Offer water to the thirsty, Invite a stranger in, Offer clothes to those who need them, Take care of the sick, and Visit the prisoner, we are actually helping Him:
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’” (Matthew 25:40).
In God’s Kingdom, kindness to the poor is lending to the Lord and taking care of those in need is the same as helping Jesus Himself.
Friends, this Christmas Season 🎄 let’s open our eyes to the needs around us and respond with tangible action, not because it feels good for us, but because love-in-action is what we are called to by God Himself.
