"I cannot do it, but God..."

After being "forcibly carried off from the land of the Hebrews" and having "done nothing to deserve being put in a dungeon" (Genesis 40:15), Joseph waited two more years in prison before being brought before Pharaoh in the hopes that he would be able to interpret the dreams that had been troubling Pharaoh's mind.

Pharaoh, seen as and believed by Egyptians to be the divine ruler who would become divinity after his death, preserver of the God-given order, owner of a large portion of Egypt's land who directed its use, the one responsible for his people's economic and spiritual welfare, the dispenser of justice, who's will was supreme (Source: Britannica) asked Joseph the following question:

"I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it" (Genesis 41:15).

This is Joseph's biggest moment! He is before the powerful Pharaoh who is seeking his help due to Joseph's proven track record of interpreting dreams accurately, particularly in the case of Pharaoh's officials.

Joseph's response?

"I cannot do it..."

Wow.

"...but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires" (Genesis 41:16).

Amazingly, God provides Joseph with the interpretation of Pharoah's dreams and Joseph is put in charge of the whole land of Egypt.

“Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and people shouted before him, “Make way!” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.”‭‭ (Genesis‬ ‭41‬:‭42‬-‭43)

Today, let us:
- Put our complete trust in God
- Serve with uncompromising integrity
- Look to God for all the answers
- Help others with the gifts God has given to us
- Give Him all the glory

He is faithful!
