In the big game on Saturday, our Sr. Girls held a 6-point lead after the first quarter. Sa-Hali went on a bit of tear right at the end of the 2nd and was up 25-21 with a firm grip on the game's momentum. Our girls fought back to take a 2-point lead after 3 quarters (37-35). Yes! Back and forth it went and with 3 minutes to go, Sa-Hali was up by 6 points again. Nooooo! As the panic began to set into the hearts of the fans, the coaches called a time out, settled the team, and formulated their game-winning plan for the final stretch. Everything was on the line in that moment!
Can you imagine one of the players saying: "Coach, can I please run up into the stands and give my mom a quick hug?" Or another saying, "Coach, if we look back, Sa-Hali has taken the lead before and we can't do it!" Or another asking to grab a quick bite before getting on the floor?!
This was the moment! No one else could win the game for them. The stakes were the highest they had ever been and would ever be in this storied basketball season. They needed to 'put a hand to the plow' and not look back... Move forward with passion... Leave everything on the floor! This is it!!!
Follower of Jesus, we are in the big game right now. This is the moment for us to get to work and no one else has the solutions for the problems in this world except for the freedom, hope, and life that Jesus provides. The stakes are high as the salvation of our students, family members, neighbours, and friends are on the line. This is the time for the people of God to put a hand to the plow and not look back. As the world is focused on all the other stuff, "...but you GO and PROCLAIM the Kingdom of God" (v. 60).
Much love,
Vijay
