The mutterings of the Pharisees and teachers of the law about Jesus:
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
➡️ Why would Jesus spend his time with “sinners”??!!
Jesus responded with stories about a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a rebellious and lost son:
“...there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
➡️ If a shepherd were to lose one of his sheep, he would certainly leave those that are safe to find the one that is lost!
And when the lost and rebellious son humbles his spirit, returns to his father, and repents?
“...the best robe...a ring on his finger... sandals on his feet... the fattened calf... a feast and [celebration].”
➡️ The door is open for us to humble ourselves, return to God, and ask for forgiveness because “He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
“For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”
➡️ This is my story, friends. Thank you Jesus!
🎶 This is our God, this is who He is, He loves us!
