Who in your life loves Jesus so completely that nothing else competes? Their passion radiates through every conversation, financial decision, act of humility, and sacrificial service to those in need. Their life bears unmistakable God-honouring fruit.
This is true Christianity. As Menno Simons wrote, true evangelical faith cannot lie dormant. It dies to selfish desires, seeks God wholeheartedly, and pours itself out in love—clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, comforting the sorrowful, serving even enemies, and becoming all things to all people for the Gospel.
Yet billions on earth today, about 1/3 of the population, cannot afford healthy food valued at just under $5 CDN per day, millions face acute hunger, and homelessness surges in our cities—all while trillions of dollars flow annually into luxury and entertainment… trillions.
Something is off.
Scripture is clear: “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord” (Proverbs 19:17). Jesus says in Matthew 25 that how we treat the vulnerable reveals our relationship with Him; helping those in need is actually helping Jesus himself: “…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (v. 40).
This type of Christian faith cannot be manufactured by ‘trying harder’ or ‘being better’. It flows only from humble repentance, belief in and full surrender to Jesus, and being filled and led by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:13-26).
Friends, let’s commit to guarding our hunger for Jesus above all else, not allowing any earthly thing to fill the void that only Jesus Himself can fill completely.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6).
The time for God’s people to rise up with bold, Spirit-led faith leading to community-changing action is now. May the Good News of Jesus Christ flow from us, His people, into our homes, neighbourhoods, and communities, and may many lives be changed to the glory of God!
